Codex Alimentarius approves new aflatoxin maximum limits
Last week, the Codex Alimentarius Commission has adopted new maximum limits for aflatoxins in almonds, hazelnuts and pistachios: 10ppb for products ready-to-eat and 15ppb for products for further processing, as well as the the Sampling Plan for the control of aflatoxins.
Another important result is the preparation of a preventive "Code of Practice for the control of aflatoxin in dried figs" which represents a first step in achieving new maximum aflatoxin limits also for this product.
